7 simple ways to empower yourself daily

by Davide Dabramo on March 18, 2021

It’s easy to forget how much power we do have over our lives. Bumps and re-routes are beyond our control but the power to set your course then pursue it like nothing else matters is always within reach if we choose.

Impressive achievements and people who realise their dreams can feel a bit Disney sometimes but it is possible to live your dreams. It’s all about mindset and what you do with the 24 hours you get everyday.

Empower yourself daily and you’ll be amazed at how strong you feel. With small but regular steps, you’ll see your goals get nearer and possibilities get bigger.

If you want to see change, you have to do things differently so here are 7 ways to empower yourself daily

7 simple ways to empower yourself daily

  1. Morning routine: It’s all about intention. How do you intend to do the next 24 hours? I’m guessing calm, positive and productive is top of your list. It’s the same for everyone yet so many of us spend our days stressed out and unfulfilled.

It’s about how you start so if you want to get more out of the day, begin each day with a daily morning routine. A daily morning routine will ensure you kick off your day feeling calm, positive and motivated. When challenges come your way later in the day, you’ll have the right mindset to make positive decisions.

A daily morning routine:

  • Wake up fresh: Get a full 6- 8 hours sleep the night before. Have your schedule for the next day already organised so when you get up in the morning you know what’s ahead.
  • Exercise: Slip into calming exercise of your choice as soon as you wake up. It could be yoga, a run, Pilates – whatever works for you.
  • Breakfast: Have an energising breakfast that lifts your spirits and gives you the fuel you need for the day ahead.

Choose a refreshing, zesty drink packed with vitamins and minerals that will help to enliven your mood. From water to green tea, ginger tea, hot water with lemon, coconut water, a breakfast smoothie or freshly squeezed juice there are tons of ways to fire up your energy and focus naturally.

For food, oats are a great way to secure a gradual energy release that will last till lunch. Combine oats, seeds and fruit for the perfect, nutritious breakfast.

  • Schedule: Check through your schedule for the day ahead. Re-schedule anything you don’t think you’ll realistically have time to do and remember to include plenty of breaks so you stay fresh.
  • With your day organised for success, you’ll feel calm and in control which is exactly how you want to feel at the beginning of the day.
  1. Food for fuel: We have so much choice, we forget food is fuel. If your body doesn’t have the right balance of nourishment, everything from motivation to energy, focus and positivity will be affected.

Throughout the day, it is really important to think about how you fuel your body. If you want to be able to make sharp decisions and power through your goals, lots of water as well as foods that give you the right energy are essential.

Remember to drink plenty of water and stay away from those sugary, processed foods that deliver a quick high then leave you feeling sluggishness, tired and lacking focus.

Instead, ensure you eat plenty of wholegrains, vegetables, fruits and lean proteins throughout the day to give you the range of nutrition you need.

  1. Body confidence: One of the most limiting things we can do is to allow negative self talk to flourish. Make a decision to speak to yourself in the encouraging, respectful way you would talk to a friend.

When you want to put yourself down replace your critical thoughts with encouragement.

One of the worst things we do is to talk about our bodies in a negative manner. We don’t realise it but our negativity carries over into the image we choose to project of ourselves.

Every time you get dressed, dismiss your first instinct to criticise how you look. Instead make a pact with yourself to fake it till you make it. You might not feel a million dollars but when you dress like it, you’ll feel a whole lot better.

  1. Do you: So often we suppress who we are and that includes our clothes. Instead of telling yourself something eye-catching won’t look good on you – take a deep breath and go for it.

Wear the bolder outfit. You’ll be surprised at how good you feel when everyone starts giving you compliments and all those parts you thought looked so bad, slip to the back of your mind.

Play around with styles, colours and fits to find the look that suits you – then work it to the max. Remember there is only one you. You don’t have to look like everyone else. Embrace your unique style, have fun and don’t be shy!

“Make a conscious effort to surround yourself with positive, nourishing, and uplifting people – people who believe in you, encourage you to go after your dreams, and applaud your victories.”

 Jack Canfield

  1. Zero tolerance: What about those people who will wonder why you decided to switch things up? It’s time to stop worrying about them or anyone else who thinks they need to tell you what to do.

Because guess what? Some people, unfortunately, will never have anything positive to say.

It’s nothing to do with you – it’s all about them. They lack self confidence and so they put you down to make themselves feel better.

If you start to notice some of your circle never seem to have anything positive to say and are reluctant to support your pursuit for more – it’s time to rethink who you spend your time with.

“Surround yourself only with those who will lift you higher”.

Oprah Winfrey

Our friends are supposed to be our biggest cheerleaders. If you’re making positive changes, they should support you. Unfortunately, toxic people do slip into our lives.

You can tell toxic people a mile off – they leave you feeling rubbish and try to limit your dreams. If you’ve got toxic friends, ditch them without a second look back.

If you have to see them from time to time, keep your exposure to their negativity to a minimum.

  1. Keep moving: By now, you should be fired up and raring to go. And that’s what it’s all about – momentum. Whatever happens - keep going.

Some days, you’ll be unstoppable – on others it’ll feel like a struggle. The key is to keep moving forwards and step by step, things will change. Remember this is about small, daily changes that are achievable.

If you try to make huge, dramatic changes – they won’t last. Keep plugging away daily and you’ll soon reap the results.

  1. Find the good: A great way to stay motivated is by looking for the good in each day. It might sound a bit cheesy but once you start, you’ll realise how much you actually have in your life.

Practicing gratitude keeps you positive, calm and appreciative of all you have.

Each day, take a moment to reflect on two small things that gave you a warm, fuzzy feeling or made your heart leap for a moment. It might be a hug, a photo of you and your bestie that made you smile or just the fact that the sun came out.

These are the little things that keep us positive and moving forwards every day.
